Hi! It's blustery Sunday evening and we are really looking forward to another trip into Grand Rapids tomorrow morning in another snow storm. We went in for his clinical and labs on Friday. It took 1.50 hours to get there and 2.00 hours back. The trip back was 20 to 30 miles per hour, one lane of traffic and thankfully no one even tried to pass.
Wow! I learned a new reason they call Michigan the Winter Wonder Land~ ~. You just wonder if you are going to get there. :) I am getting pretty good at driving his truck in this kind of weather, and I've learned a new respect for 4 wheel drive!
When we got the results of Riches labs back, his blood sugar was very high- over 300. They thought that it could be due to the steroids or some of the other drugs they had given him, however they wanted to be safe, so we had to get a machine to monitor his blood sugar levels. Thankfully the last two have been down around 123 or 127, so hopefully they were right on that one.
He was still in a lot of pain for the last two days, but today he thinks he is feeling a little (emphasis on little) better.
We still have a long road ahead of us while they get all of his levels stabilized and they will be adjusting his meds as needed after every lab and clinical. (Yep! They took away one RX and added a new one after Fridays visit.)
It is well worth the Grand Rapids trips, The Pee Trips, all the medical adjustments and even the pain Rich is going through, to be given a gift such as Ingrid has given. I think the one thing we wish the most is that we would have been able to be the ones to deal with the inconvenience and the pain that she has had to deal with by offering such a wonderful and generous gift~ ~ the gift of self and the gift of life. We thank God for her generosity.
Please continue to pray that Ingrid is 100% back to herself very soon and for Rich and his Doctors that they find the proper "mix" to keep his levels where they need to be. Oh, and one last request: That we all stay safe in this Winter Wonder Land.
Our love to all,
Rich and Rita
